It happens every year... Wintertime and its freezing temperatures bring along with it new challenges for skin and hair health. As the warm weather fades, unfortunately, so does that sun kissed look and shiny hair we love to rock!
Our team is here to help you fight back! We have a full service salon and spa, and our number one goal is to satisfy you and your needs.

To combat dull, dry skin, moisturization and hydration are key. Next time you're in for a manicure, ask to dip your hands in paraffin wax! It feels great and has dramatic results on unhappy winter cuticles.
Even something as simple as splashing cold water on the face in the morning can help get blood circulating! Drink plenty of water and make sure you're getting omega-3’s, which can be found in foods such as nuts, salmon, avocado, or in pill supplement form. Moisturizing and exfoliating (to increase cell turnover) will give you back the summer glow you crave! On holiday sale we have a "Masque Kit" from YonKa that includes an overnight treatment and eye cream. Masque N1 uses water as an active hydrator- something all ages can benefit from.
To keep from drying out, apply a light moisturizer under your base makeup. I would personally recommend YonKa's Bonne Mine (a tinted moisturizer) it has just the right amount of moisture, and smells so refreshing! Without clogging the pores, and gives you a natural bronzed look.
As far as your hair goes... We all know the blow dryer comes out more often during winter months! Yes, you look great, and that arm cramp is so worth it, HOWEVER you NEED to have heat protection!
Both Styling Lotion and Thickening Hairspray (from Bumble and Bumble) offer this with different levels of hold, are an essential component to any round brush blow dry. To avoid static electricity, try a leave in conditioner. This will give back some of the natural oils you need to shine and feel great.
Shelby, a stylist at our salon says, "the most simple way to retain moisture is to skip washing your hair every day!" It can take time for your scalp to adjust to your new routine. It’s used to overcompensating-be patient, in time, it will stop producing so much oil and your hair will not feel so greasy.
IMPORTANT FACT: When you do wash your hair, rinse with cold water to seal in moisture.
If you suffer from dry and itchy scalp in colder climates, tea tree oil is a great remedy for unclogging hair follicles and soothing skin. Bumble and Bumble offers a shampoo for those who are not color treated. This daily favorite has Tea Tree Oil & Peppermint extracts to balance oil, stimulate circulation, and leave the scalp tingling & hair soft & shiny. For those of us who are not completely natural (even if we pretend to be!!) Tonic Lotion is a great alternative! It replaces moisture, soothes, detangles, enhances the performance of products and reminds us of old school barbers' elixirs. To use: spray it on evenly & liberally and run through for a daily dose of hair vitamins!

Don't make the mistake of waiting until last minute to find the "look" you'd like to achieve. Cut out pictures of the type of make-up you see yourself wearing, and schedule an appointment with a professional make-up artist with bridal experience to ensure you can achieve the "look" your going for.

Seeing yourself as a beautiful blushing bride may be different from what someone else is invisioning, so a practice run or two is a must! The importance of your face looking flawless on your day and for years to come in your pictures cannot be over looked!

Prepare your skin...exfoliate and moisturize your skin before your big day. Getting rid of dead skin cells before your make-up application is vital in creating a smooth finish without excess make-up "caking" up, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Making sure you have an adequate water intake for well hydrated skin as well as a facial a week or two before your wedding day is also very beneficial.
A good skin care regimin and facial moisturizer will give you that radiant glow and help you to get more longevity out of the wear of your make-up as well as making sure your skin is in optimal shape.
Lighting! A good make-up artist always knows how lighting can drastically change the way your makeup looks. Always apply near a window or outside if possible, this allows for natural lighting and gives the best opportunity to blend colors evenly creating the most natural application possible.
Lighting also plays a huge role in photography and will change the way your face appears in pictures, so time of day and weather the pictures are going to be taken inside or outside are important factors to consider.
Excentuating the Positive and Downplay the Negative. I think it is so important to find the brides best facial feature and play it up!
Weather its her lips, her eyes, jaw line, or her cheek bones pick one and focus on bringing that feature out with color, highlight, or some sparkle. The eye is drawn to her best feature while things like bumps, breakouts, or asymmetry can be concealed and contoured with a proper base application.
A great question for a bride to ask herself is "what do I like about my face?" Do you want long, beautiful lashes, or big lucsious lips?
Knowing what you want to bring out with a great make-up application on your wedding day will help you feel like a confident beautiful bride on your very special day.
All eyes will be on the bride, Its ok to be the center of attention if your feeling glamourous!
