Hey guys, it’s been a while! Today, I wanna share my latest project – remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. Yeah, you heard that right, the fancy watch from their official flagship store. This whole thing started when I saw this beauty online. I mean, the charcoal gray dial, the 18K white gold, everything about it just screamed elegance. I knew I had to try and recreate it.
So, I started digging around. I checked out some websites, looked at a lot of pictures. The watch has a reference number: 6119G-001. They started making it in 2021. I found out that it’s part of the Calatrava collection, and apparently, these watches are known for being super classy. It’s got a round face, which I really like. The more I found out, the more excited I got.
The first thing I did was find materials that were kinda like the real deal. I mean, I couldn’t afford real 18K white gold, but I got something that looked pretty close. The dial was tricky. Getting that charcoal gray just right took some experimenting. I tried a bunch of different shades before I found one that looked like the pictures.
Then came the details. The original has this cool pattern on the bezel called “Clous de Paris“. Trying to recreate that was a pain! I used some tools I had lying around and, after messing up a few times, I finally got something that resembled it. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it.
- Finding the materials: I spent hours looking for stuff that looked like the real thing.
- Dial experiments: The color matching was tough, but I got it in the end.
- Bezel pattern: This was the hardest part, but I managed to get a decent result.
Putting it all together was like solving a puzzle. I had to be super careful, making sure everything fit just right. The silver-tone hands, the index hour markers, even the little minute markers around the rim, I tried to copy it all. The original has a black alligator leather strap, but I went with a regular black leather one because, well, it was cheaper.
Inside, the real watch has this fancy mechanical thing called Caliber 30-255 PS. I didn’t even try to replicate that. I just put in a regular watch movement that I had. I mean, who’s gonna see the inside anyway, right?
The Final Result
After a lot of work, I finally finished it. It took days of trying, failing, and trying again, but I did it. It’s not an exact copy, of course. I learned that getting a real Patek Philippe can take years on a waiting list, and they cost a fortune. But my version looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. It captures the vibe of the original, and that’s what I was going for.
This whole project was a blast. It was challenging, frustrating at times, but super rewarding in the end. I learned a lot, and I got to practice my crafting skills. Plus, now I have a cool watch to show off!
I know the real deal is a symbol of status and all that, but to me, it was just a fun project to see if I could do it. And you know what? I think I did alright.
