Okay, so, I recently got my hands on a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, the original order. Let me tell you, this thing is a beauty. I’ve been eyeing this model for a while, and when the opportunity came, I jumped on it.
First off, the unboxing. It came in a pretty standard box, nothing too fancy, but hey, it’s what’s inside that counts, right? I carefully opened it up, and there it was, gleaming under the light. The case is made of stainless steel, and it’s got this polished finish that just looks so sleek. It’s 39mm in diameter, which I think is a perfect size, not too big, not too small. And it’s only 9.2mm thick! That’s what they mean by “Ultra Thin,” I guess. It feels really good on the wrist, not heavy at all.
The dial, oh man, the dial is something else. I went for the silver one. It’s like a classic, timeless look. There’s also a midnight blue version that looks stunning, but I’m a sucker for the classics. The layout is pretty intricate, with all the perpetual calendar complications. You’ve got the day, date, month, and even the moon phase, all laid out in these little sub-dials. It’s a lot to take in at first, but once you get used to it, it’s pretty easy to read.
- Setting it up was a bit of a process. I mean, it’s a perpetual calendar, so it’s not like setting your average watch. I watched a couple of videos online, and they were helpful enough, but the best thing to do is follow the instruction manual.
- Once I got it all set up, I was good to go. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments. It’s definitely a conversation starter. People are always asking me about it.
It’s powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre 868 calibre movement. I don’t know a ton about movements, but I know this one is supposed to be pretty good. It’s automatic, so you don’t have to wind it, which is nice. And it’s got a power reserve of something like 70 hours, so you can take it off for a couple of days and it’ll still be running.
Wearing Experience
I’ve worn it to a couple of different occasions already. I wore it to a friend’s wedding, and it looked great with my suit. I also wore it to a more casual get-together, and it still looked good, just dressed down a bit. It’s really versatile like that.
One thing I really appreciate about this watch is how comfortable it is. Like I said, it’s really thin, so it doesn’t feel bulky on your wrist at all. The strap is also really comfortable. It’s made of this soft leather that feels great against your skin. I honestly forget I am even wearing it sometimes.
All in all, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s a beautiful watch, it’s well-made, and it’s just a joy to wear. If you’re in the market for a high-end watch with a perpetual calendar, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out. It’s a bit of an investment, sure, but in my opinion, it’s totally worth it. It’s the kind of watch you can pass down to your kids, you know? A real heirloom piece.
