Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, the small one. You know, the one all the celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are carrying around? Yeah, that one. I finally decided to just go for it and try to make my own version. I mean, why not, right?
First, I started by looking up everything I could about this bag. I learned that it’s made of Saffiano leather, which is apparently this special kind of treated leather that doesn’t get that worn-in look over time. It’s supposed to be super durable. I also found out that the inside has this logo plaque, and if it’s a fake bag, it won’t have the right kind of plaque. Good to know.
Then, I went on a mission to find materials. I managed to find some leather that looked pretty similar to Saffiano. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, still cheaper than the real deal! For the inside, I opted for some bright red Nappa leather, man, it’s soft!
- Got the leather for the outside
- Found some super soft red leather for the inside
- Started figuring out the hardware situation (zippers, clasps, etc.)
Next, I got down to the actual making of the bag. I used some patterns I found online, but to be honest, I kinda winged it for some parts. It was a lot of cutting, sewing, and honestly, a bit of swearing. This was way harder than I thought it would be!
I spent hours and hours on this thing. I messed up a few times and had to redo some parts, but I kept at it. There were moments I wanted to just give up, but I pushed through.
The Final Result
Finally, after what felt like forever, I finished it! It’s not perfect, but I’m actually pretty proud of it. It definitely looks like a Prada Galleria bag, at least from a distance. And you know what? It holds all my stuff, and it feels pretty sturdy. Plus, I made it myself, which is kinda cool, right?
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’m loving it. I might not have the real Prada, but this one feels special because I put so much work into it. Who knows, maybe I’ll try making another one someday, but for now, I’m just happy to have my own unique, almost-Prada bag!
