My grandson said it is 27 mm wide. And only 3.3 mm thick. Sounds like it would break easy to me.
They made this Calatrava way back. My grandson told me the first one, something called Reference 96, was made in 1932. That’s older than me! They keep making new ones, changing them a little each time. This 5227R-001 is just the latest one, I guess.

Back in my day, you wound your watch yourself, and that was that. This is some fancy technology, they got now. I don’t know. Seems like they are making things complicated just to make them complicated.
They Say It’s a Classic Style, This Patek Philippe
My grandson, he says this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R-001 is a “classic style.” I guess that means it looks old-fashioned, but in a good way. Like my old china, I suppose. It’s simple, not too flashy. Just a plain round watch with a leather strap. I’ve seen folks wear it with a suit, and it looks alright, I reckon. It’s Just a Watch, Ain’t It?
This remake Patek Philippe, this Calatrava 5227R-001, it’s just a watch at the end of the day. A fancy, expensive watch, sure, but still just a watch. It tells time, same as any other watch. I guess if you have the money to spend and you like that sort of thing, then go for it. But me, I’ll stick with my old trusty watch. It may not be a Patek Philippe, but it tells time just fine, and that’s all that matters to me.
Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but I don’t see the point in all this fuss. A watch is a watch. You wear it on your wrist, and it tells you the time.
