Okay, so today I wanna talk about this whole Rolex GMT-Master II thing. I’ve been trying to get a good fake, you know, a high imitation one, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey.
First off, I started digging around online, trying to figure out what makes a good fake. I mean, if I’m gonna do this, I want it to be as close to the real deal as possible, right?
Check the Hands
So, the first thing I learned was about the hands. Apparently, on a real Rolex GMT-Master II, the hands are stacked in a specific order. The hour hand is closest to the dial, then the GMT hand (that’s the one for the second time zone), and then the minute hand. I spent a good few hours looking at pictures and videos, just trying to get this straight in my head.
- Hour hand
- GMT hand
- Minute hand
Look at the Rehaut
Then there’s this thing called the “rehaut.” It’s like an inner bezel, and on a real Rolex, it’s engraved with the word “ROLEX” over and over. Each letter is supposed to line up perfectly with the second markers. I grabbed a magnifying glass – felt like a real detective – and started comparing the fake ones I found to pictures of real ones. Man, some of these fakes are pretty bad. The engraving is all crooked or uneven. But some are surprisingly good. It’s hard to tell unless you really know what you’re looking for.
Left-Handed Version
I was particularly interested in the left-handed version of this watch, you know, the one with the crown on the left side. I heard it’s even harder to find a good fake of that one. But I like a challenge, so I kept digging. Found a few forums and websites where people were discussing the best factories for these high imitation watches. I even talked to some guy who seemed to know his stuff. He gave me some tips on what to look for, like the serial number at 6 o’clock on the rehaut.
The Pepsi Bezel
Oh, and the bezel! I was looking at one with the “Pepsi” bezel – that’s the red and blue one. It’s iconic, you know? Apparently, the colors on the fake ones can be a bit off. Like, the red might be too bright or the blue might be too dark. I spent hours comparing pictures, trying to see if I could spot the difference. It’s subtle, but it’s there.
After all this research, I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy one. It wasn’t cheap, even for a fake. But compared to a real one, it was a steal. When it arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I immediately checked the hands, the rehaut, the serial number, the bezel colors… everything I had learned about. And you know what? It was pretty damn good. I mean, I’m no expert, but to my untrained eye, it looked almost exactly like the real thing.
So, there you have it. My journey into the world of high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II watches. It was a lot of work, but in the end, I think it was worth it. I got a watch that looks great, and I learned a lot along the way. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, just be prepared to do your research. It’s a wild world out there!
