Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this whole Rolex GMT-Master II thing. I’ve been wanting one of these bad boys for ages, but, you know, the real ones are crazy expensive. So, I started looking into these “high imitation” ones, specifically this “original order” thing I kept seeing.
First off, I needed to figure out how to even tell if these things are fake. I mean, who wants to get ripped off, right? I found some stuff online saying you gotta check the order of the hands. Apparently, on a real Rolex, the hands are stacked like this: Hour, GMT, then Minutes. Good to know.
Then I started digging deeper. I was looking at these replicas of the GMT-Master II, like the 126710BLRO. I read somewhere that if it feels cheap, it’s definitely fake. Makes sense, since the real ones are made with super good materials and are put together really precisely.
I also learned a little about the movement inside these watches, the Calibre 3085. Apparently, it was first used in this GMT-Master II called the “Fat Lady,” the ref. 16760, back in 1983. Thought that was kind of a cool tidbit.
- I found a seller online who seemed legit. They had a bunch of pictures and videos, and the watch looked pretty darn good.
- I messaged them, asked a million questions, you know, just to be sure.
- After a lot of back and forth, I decided to take the plunge and ordered one.
- When it arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Ripped open the package and there it was.
- First thing I did was check the hands. Hour, GMT, Minutes. Just like it’s supposed to be. Phew!
- I checked out the movement as best as I could without any special tools and it seemed okay.
- I put it on my wrist, and man, it felt good. It had some weight to it, didn’t feel cheap at all.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I gotta say, I’m pretty happy with it. It looks great, keeps good time, and I didn’t have to sell a kidney to get it. Now, I’m not saying it’s the same as a real Rolex, but for the price, it’s a pretty sweet deal.
So, yeah, that’s my story about getting a high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II. It was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off. Just remember to do your research and be careful out there, because there are definitely some shady folks selling fakes.
