They make everything more expensive. Maybe the new name is more fashionable. I don’t know the fashion, I only know what I need.
Why they gotta be so expensive, though? They say it’s ’cause of the name, the fancy materials, and all that. They say it changes from time to time. One day cheap, the next day it costs you your whole month’s pension! I just need a good, sturdy bag, that’s all.
All the bags have some numbers inside. That’s how they know it’s real. Well, I don’t need to know it’s real, I just need to know it works. And I don’t care about the changes in material costs and labor. I just need a good price.
Findin’ a Good Bag in South Africa
Now, I hear tell there’s places in South Africa where you can find these fancy bags, or somethin’ like ’em. They say you can even find ’em online. Imagine that! Buyin’ a purse from your computer. That’s a thing only young people know. But maybe it is a good thing. Maybe you can get it cheaper online.
- Some folks say you can buy ’em used. That don’t bother me none. As long as it’s clean and holds my stuff, I’m happy.
- I heard there’s somethin’ called “dupes.” Sounds kinda funny, but they say it means you get a bag that looks like the real deal but costs a whole lot less. I think that’s a good thing. We all need a good deal.
- There’s also some place called “Ubuy” or somethin’ like that. They say you can find the real YSL things there, but cheaper.
Makin’ Your Own Kind of Fancy
But then I thought, why not just find a bag that looks kinda like that JUNE BOX BAG? I mean, it’s just a little boxy bag with a flap, right? I bet there’s plenty of bags out there that are just as good.

You can spend all your money on a name, or you can find somethin’ that works just as well for a whole lot less. That’s what I always say.
I think the best Saint Laurent is the one you can afford. And the best YSL is the one that makes you happy. And if you can buy the bag in South Africa, that’s good for you. And if you are looking for Saint Laurent Paris, well, good luck to you! And if you don’t find it in the specialty stores, you can still get it online.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ don’t buy the real thing if that’s what you want. But for me, I’d rather have a bag that holds my things and a little money left over for somethin’ else.
Maybe I’ll go down to the market and see what they got. Or maybe I’ll try that online thing. Who knows, maybe this old gal will learn somethin’ new after all. If I don’t find something like the YSL JUNE BOX BAG, I can still get a bag that will work for me. A bag is a bag, you know?
