Let me tell you about this watch, the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary. I’ve been eyeing it for a while, ever since I heard about it way back when.
It all started back in, I think it was October of 2020. Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that it was on the 5th of October, 1970, that OMEGA got this “Silver Snoopy Award” thing from the NASA folks. It was for, like, their help with space stuff. Cool, right?
Fast forward to November 2020, and they dropped this special 50th-anniversary edition. And boy, did it make waves! Everyone was talking about it. I knew I had to get my hands on it. So, I did what any sane person would do – I started hunting.
Now, this wasn’t one of those “limited edition” watches that are actually easy to get. Oh no, this one was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I looked everywhere, online, in stores, you name it. But when I finally saw the back, I mean, damn, it’s different. It’s got this moving Snoopy, not just a picture!
I read some more about it online. And it turns out, this watch is not really a limited edition but many guys still want it. But the problem is this thing only made 5,441 pieces.
It’s powered by some fancy OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 movement, and it comes in a neat box.
But seriously, this watch, it’s something else. And the hunt? Totally worth it.
